A Bismarck-Mandan #PrairiePlaces Road Trip

It’s road trip time! Tomorrow I’m off to Bismarck-Mandan for the North Dakota Bloggers & Writers Workshop at Fort Abraham Lincoln.

I’m excited to focus on my work, chat with some old friends and colleagues (and hopefully meet some new ones) and explore a State Park that I haven’t visited yet. (These things are usually held in air conditioned hotel conference rooms, so this will be a refreshing change.)

Have you see the dinosaurs at the North Dakota Heritage Center and State Museum yet? I love the Native American portion of this museum, too. It’s totally worth a trip.

Bismarck is such a fun place. I stopped out a couple of times last summer and I’m looking forward to having a beer or two downtown and seeing what’s changed since the last time I was in town.

And I might have to grab a Fireflour Pizza for the trip home…I take snacking emergencies very seriously…

Ooh, pizza…

And I really need to get out and see Mandan more. I’ve only really ever hung out on the Captain Freddy’s patio and had a beer at Buffalo Commons Brewing Co. I’m looking forward to seeing more of the city this time around.

This is at Captain Freddy’s. I’m a firm believer in sitting outside whenever possible.

So what else should I see when I’m in town? My mom, dad and toddler will be hanging out with my cousins while I’m working and we’re always looking for new things to see and do. You have all given me such great #PrairiePlaces tips to check out in the past, so if there’s something I should see, give me a heads up.

What are your favorite things to do and see in Bismarck-Mandan? And if you’re out and about tomorrow or Thursday comment here or drop me a line on social media — my info is listed below. I’d love to meet you IRL.
