A Fall Picnic

I wrote about fall picnics in Paris a few days ago and it got me wondering why I don’t picnic at home more often. So I’ve been spending as much time as possible in Fargo’s Island Park before the weather turns.

There’s something so indulgent about laying on a blanket under the autumn leaves, sipping ginger ale and catching up back issues of fashion magazines.

The park itself is soothing, too. I love the sun dappled spaces, the crunch of leaves under foot, the murmurs of couples huddled together on park benches and the laughter of toddlers playing peek-a-boo with their parents from behind the trunks of the rustling trees. We’re all technically sharing the same space, but we’re content in our own little worlds.

It’s definitely not a traditional fall ritual, but it’s a beautiful way to spend an afternoon. What are your favorite fall rituals?

No matter what you love, I hope you make the most of every moment of your autumn.
