Happy Valentine’s Day! What are you all up to tonight?
If you want to do something outside the (chocolate) box today, here are two of my favorite options — Giving Hearts Day and and The Eighth Annual Visual Erotic Art Exhibition. (People who say the Midwest is boring just aren’t looking very hard!)
Giving Hearts Day is a 24-hour virtual fundraiser, sponsored by The Impact Foundation every Valentine’s Day.
Just click on the link to make a donation of at least $10 to the charity of your choice, including some of my favorite causes like Theatre B, Trollwood Performing Arts School, Plains Art Museum, Rape and Abuse Crisis Center and Make-A-Wish of North Dakota. Your donation will be matched, doubling the good you can do for your favorite causes. Last year they raised over 1.6 million and they want to break their record.
Giving ends at midnight tonight, so log on early so you can do something virtuous before you head out for something slightly more sinful. Sure, chocolate works too, but I was thinking more along the lines of The Visual Erotic Art Exhibition downtown.
This show consistently attracts a great range of art and a fun crowd. It’s sensual and occasionally naughty, sure, but it never veers into creeper territory. And this year you can also buy a ticket to watch the lovely ladies (and gentlemen) of Bad Weather Burlesque do their thing and catch some slightly scandalous poetry as well.
Sounds like more fun than a box of chocolates to me!
