Hello, Magic City! A #PrairiePlaces Road Trip

Spring is here and it’s time for another #PrairiePlaces road trip!

Next week, after few particularily intense days of deadlines and taxes and assorted technical difficulties, I’m packing up the baby and heading to Minot, the Magic City, home of Josh Duhamel, The North Dakota State Fair and a rapidly revitalizing downtown scene.

My brother Jacob and I dropped in last summer and we inadvertantly chose days (Sunday and Monday) when the city closes early, so I’m excited to see a few more places this time around.

Even though the city was a little sleepier than usual when we visited, we found a hometown lunch spot, a boutique I loved and our favorite watering hole in western North Dakota.

Minot has a great art scene, including  affordable housing for artists, so I’m looking forward to checking out the museums and galleries, eating lots of great food and letting Eli run around outside.

What should we see while we’re in town? What should we check out on the drive between West Fargo and Minot?

I have my own ideas, of course, but the best advice always from readers like you!

And don’t forget, you can use the #PrairiePlaces tag for all of your favorite locations in the Upper Midwest. It’s a cool way to connect with other locals and travelers and explore new places right from your phone, computer or tablet.

I can’t wait to see what you suggest! And be sure to follow me online to see what I’m up to!

  1. Make sure to stop back in to Celebrations ‘n’ Crafts in downtown Dickinson! Lots of new things and a brand new amazing piece of street art in Art Ave! Must see! It’s 20 feet tall! See you soon hopefully!
