Home Decor at Redoux

A Note from the Editor: Redoux has moved to 213 NP Avenue in Fargo. The storefront shown below is now occupied by AENDEE, which will open to the public on July 26, 2013.

I was out wandering last week (as you may have read in my last post) when I stumbled across Redoux, a charming little home decor shop on 8th Street.

Chair at Redoux

Owner Annie Folden Poitra specializes in rustic, industrial and reclaimed home decor, but she combines all of these elements in a very clean and modern way.

Mi Casa Es Su Casa

The entire store is very well-edited and soothing, with a distinct color palette and point of view. I get the feeling that every item on the shelves is carefully considered and well-loved, without being precious.

Soap Pumps

I had a great time talking with Annie about the thrill — and the occasional terror — that comes with making a business out of something that you love.

His and Hers

Redoux started as a hobby, then grew into a business in the Detroit Lakes Antique Mall, where Annie would give her customers’ lake cabins a fresh new look.

When Annie realized that most of her customers were from Fargo-Moorhead, she moved the business west.

Customizable Word Art at Redoux

She specializes in custom pieces (like this amazing word art piece) and custom made furniture, because she wants her customers to have totally unique items.

Now I can’t stop thinking about commissioning a huge poem to put over our staircase. How fabulous would that be?
