Mint + Basil Arrives In Downtown Fargo

If you like gorgeous gifts and pretty things for your kitchen or your home, you’re going to love Mint + Basil.

This charming little kitchen and home goods shop is one of the newest boutiques in downtown Fargo. It just opened alongside the new Vivie’s Boutique on Main Avenue in downtown Fargo.

This might just be the most Instagrammable store in downtown Fargo. And that’s really saying something. It has a lot of beautifully curated competition in the city’s most photogenic neighborhood.

You’ll find lots of beautifully displayed cookbooks, paper products, kitchen tools and beautifully packaged food items like candies and tea, all arranged in pleasing tableaus. If you’re looking for a hostess gift or a little reward for yourself after a long week, this is a great spot.

It’s also a soothing place to just browse. Seriously, this couch slays me…

I’m glad to see another retail business open in the SoMA (South of Main) neighborhood. I’m especially happy to see a little variety on the block. This particular stretch of Main Avenue is known for its women’s boutiques, so it’s nice to see this place join Others, the fair trade shop just a few blocks down, as a gift-y kind of option.

Retail in downtown Fargo has really been growing over the last few years, filling in Broadway and spilling over down side streets and building up entire neighborhoods like this one. Parking is usually easy to find in this neighborhood (and there’s a ramp nearby) so you can totally park, pop in and spend an afternoon shopping without ever venturing north to Broadway. I couldn’t have imagined saying that even a few years ago!

If you really want to make a day of it, grab a gorgeous dessert at Nichole’s Fine Pastry before you go or spend a little time in Island Park. This little neighborhood, with its colorful storefronts is changing fast. It’s a vibrant place to be.

Interestingly, it’s also home to a bunch of female-owned small businesses. Mint + Basil is no exception to the SoMa rule. It’s a new project from Hope over at Lot 2029 just down the block.

Check it out the next time you’re in downtown Fargo!
