On The Tenth Day Of Christmas…Five Winter Wardrobe Updates From Pretty b.

A note from Alicia: This contest is over and a winner has been announced  but the crew over at Pretty b are still selling fun, fashionable clothes at a great price, so check them out. The 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway will return in December. Prairie Style File offers more chances to win on the second Tuesday of every month.

So yesterday I said that today we’d be giving away concert tickets for the very first time on The 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway. Well, I have exciting news.

We’ll still be giving away concert tickets — they’ll just be added to the final prize package announcement on Saturday. I’ll have an awesome new prize from a Prairie Style File favorite for you tomorrow. And that will bring our total prize package to over $1,400 for the first time ever.

But before we talk about that, let’s talk about all the fabulous winter wardrobe updates you can find at Pretty b. boutique in Grand Forks. Winter staples are warm and practical. But all those dark colors and cozy, comforting combinations (a sweater and jeans again?) can get a little boring.

The good news is, a few strategic purchases can inject a little life into your winter wardrobe. And you don’t have to spend a lot of money to make an impact.

Here are five easy ways to give your winter standbys a little more life, courtesy of the lovely ladies from Pretty b clothing boutique.

A Silly Slogan Shirt and a Fringe Bag
I am usually immune to the charms of slogan Ts and tanks. But Pretty b. stocks a whole bunch that made me laugh, so they totally made the list. If you’re going to be living in layers until April, you might as well make one of the layers an amusing one.

And I am loving all the fringe in stores this season. This sweet little clutch is a great way to work the trend into your winter wardrobe without going all out 70s. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I do it myself, all the time. Flares and fringe forever, baby…)

A Bold Pop of Color
Boom! Your black, brown and navy basics will get a whole lot brighter when you add a super-saturated accent into the mix. This little magenta number works, but orange, teal, purple, red, jade green and yellow will all pack a similar punch.

A dramatic top in a strong color makes getting dressed a breeze. It elevates jeans with very little effort. Or pair it with a curve-hugging skirt and heels for a dramatic going out look.

A Chambray Button-Up and Statement Scarf
I love a good chambray button-up. It has the casual look and feel of denim and the neutral color goes with everything. Wear one in place of your usual white dress shirt or add layers above and below to maximize warmth and styling options.

A big, cozy neutral scarf is my favorite winter layering piece. It’s warm and practical and adds color and interest to even the most basic pieces. And a scarf is more dramatic than jewelry and can stand in for a blanket when you’re traveling. You’ve gotta love an accessory that can multitask.

  1. I like to make a statement with a super cute pair of leather boots. I love tall boots and feel like the right pair can really make an outfit. Plus, they are so practical living in Minnesota! I would love to check out this shop….especially the fun t-shirts you mentioned.

  2. I am absolutely not good with fashion, but when I really want to make a statement I wear boots and a scarf. I normally don’t wear scarves, so it tends to stand out (at least to me!).
