Today is the second day in a row that I haven’t worn a coat.
In this part of the country, that counts as a Pre-Thanksgiving miracle.
So I’m leaving the wool and cashmere at home for another day and embracing every single second that allows me to run around in silky dresses in November because this is beautiful and crazy and definitely not natural.
I was attempting to show you how cool the kimono-style sleeves on this W118 by Walter Baker dress are, but the wind was not cooperating. (Kudos to Shayli from Moonfire Photography for trying, though.)
So I’ll show you this big mess of chains instead. In case you haven’t already noticed, I love punky details with pretty dresses.
Adding something tough (chains, spikes, exposed zippers, studs, grommets) to something silky, sweet and feminine is an easy styling tip that plays up the contrast between pieces and keeps everything from looking too precious. Just make sure all that exposed hardware doesn’t snag the fabric!
This shot is taken in front of one of my favorite pieces of public art in Fargo. If you can guess where I’m at in this photo, I’ll be super impressed.
