Street Style: Casual Black and White

I met Leah at the Downtown Fargo Street Fair last week and I loved her chill take on black and white. The recent Oklahoma transplant is a pro at mixing eye-catching pieces from major retailers with thrift store and street fair finds.

The result is androgynous and casual, playful and tough and it totally works for her.

Leah’s slim striped pants are a statement piece and she could have gone the conventional route and paired them with a simple black or white top.  I like that she didn’t take the easy way out.

Instead, she pays homage to one of her passions, musicals, with a printed raglan T, which is a lot more fun.

Leah’s willowy, so she can pull off pretty much anything, but this outfit’s  classic proportions (slim pants, tall boots and longer T) will work for other body types as well.

Her accessories are personal, a constantly evolving collection, and they add color and dimension to her outfit.

Although Leah maintains she doesn’t put much thought into what she wears — “There’s never a reason for any of my outfits, even though people think there is,” she says — her look proves that wearing lots of pieces that are interesting to you does make a statement.
