Three Ways to Style a Blazer

I love boyfriend blazers — the easy fit and mid-thigh length open up so many layering possibilities. The Pendleton blazer I’m wearing here is vintage, but any neutral blazer with minimal buttons — and no shoulder pads! — will be just as versatile.

Here are three easy ways to shake up your blazer styling.

Look #1: Casual
I definitely wear this look the most. Premium denim, a slouchy, tissue-thin T, studded bag and a tangle of chains counteract the blazer’s formality and add a little edge.

Jeans: Joe’s Jeans, Shirt: Forever 21, Boots: Payless, Necklace: TJ Maxx (sorry, I have no idea what brand it is), Earrings: Target, Studded Bag: Thrifted

Look #2: Classic
Sometimes you don’t want to fight a blazer’s classic look — you want to embrace it. A neutral tunic lets a patterned scarf and dramatic earrings shine. Pair it with a structured bag and something slim on the bottom, like skinny jeans tucked into boots or a classic pencil skirt.

Tunic: Old Navy, Scarf: Dewatshang, a tiny little shop in Paris I just rediscovered, thanks to the magic that is Google Earth, Earrings: My Best Friend’s Closet, Bag: Thrifted

Look #3: Cute
Extend the life of a summer dress by adding a wool blazer and opaque tights. Belting the dress underneath the blazer adds shape and interest. I also added a fun pair of shoes for a pop of color, since round toe pumps are my favorites.

Dress and Shoes: Mossimo by Target, Belt: Vintage, Bag: Morgan de Toi, Tights: Topshop
