Even if you’re not a baseball fan, you should check it out. The stadium is beautiful, the people watching is great and there’s just something magical about outdoor baseball. (Yes, I’m a both a romantic and a total baseball nerd.) As an added bonus, Target Field has expanded its food options and has a great selection of craft beers, so you can try something other than the standard peanuts and Cracker Jack.
The Big Dog with Chips and a Big Ginger
Any Hotdog: I know I should branch out. But Schweigert hot dogs are ridiculously good! Resistance is futile.
Find It: Pretty Much everywhere
The Big Ginger: I posted a request for food and drink recommendations on Facebook and my friend Amey’s passionate pitch sold me. It’s a simple recipe – a surprisingly generous portion of 2 Gingers Irish Whiskey, ginger ale, lemon and lime garnish – but it’s incredibly refreshing and has a little bit of a bite to keep things interesting.
Find It: Sections 104, 114, 308, and in all 2 Gingers Pubs
Grande Helmet Nachos: A massive amount of cheesy goodness. My friend Amy (yes, another Amy – that’s her on the left) and my husband are both obsessed with these. The full size helmet also doubles as a nifty souvenir.
Find It: Sections 103, 111, 123, 129, 231, 309, 318
Talenti Gelato– The fruit flavors are amazing on a hot day.
Find It: Sections 101, 301 and Club
Minnesota Brews – I love pale ales, so a Summit EPA is always a good choice. I also tried Cynic and Bandwagon from Surly Brewing Co. and they totally lived up to the hype. If you’re looking for something less hoppy, try a Nordeast – a super drinkable amber lager from Grain Belt.
Find It: Surly Draft in Section 124, Nordeast from vendors in the stands and Summit and other Minnesota beers, including Lift Bridge and Schell’s Brewing Co. in Sections 126 and 130.
A Surly Cynic and a great view
I’m excited to try the Garlic Helmet Fries (Sections 109, 126, 311, 319 and The Delta SKY 360 Legends Club) State Fair Favorites like the MinneApple Pie and Walleye Skewer in Section 133 and the Food Network Buffalo Chicken Mac N Cheese in Section 114 the next time I check out The Twins live.
A complete list of food, drinks and locations is available here. If there’s something you have your heart set on trying, it’s smart to locate it before you start walking. Target Field is a big place!
