My sister Brynn and my friend Liz — with help from my Grandma J, cousin-in-law Jenna and my friend Erin — threw me the most fabulous baby shower a few days ago.
It was low-key and fun and gave me a chance to hang out with some of my favorite people.
I’m practically allergic to powder blue — which is kind of impossible when you’re expecting a boy — so Liz wisely went with an electric blue/leopard print theme that was right up my alley.
I’ve been craving sweets desserts lately, so my sister made several of her famous cheesecakes, including this incredible double chocolate cheesecake with chocolate ganache.
Check out the recipe here.
Erin picked up some cupcakes from Hornbacher’s, home of the most addictive frosting on the planet, and everybody talked and mingled.
I think those little duckies are so cute. They showed up all over my house after the shower, including in the flowers Jenna picked up from Prairie Petals, my favorite flower shop in town.
This arrangement is sitting on my desk at work right now and it still looks as good as it did at the shower.

Then it was off to play a few mellow games and open presents.
The little guy got so many cute things, including this cute robot onesie by Boneskot Design Co. and a little stuffed animal (with skulls!) by Amy Jo’s Handmade from Erin.
I love that so many of his gifts were gender neutral and a little funky. I think that’s so much more fun than the standard “cute” pastel baby stuff.
Liz brought over a sweet little rockstar T and burp cloths from local fabric company Modern Textiles.
You can find these gifts by clicking on the links here, or you can shop for them in person at Unglued in Fargo.
As creative as these handmade gifts were, the one that stole the show was the one that arrived via FedEx from my friend Adam in LA.
I was literally speechless when I opened it…speechless.
Until I saw this.
Now I see why he was so insistent I open it at the shower!
Boys. 🙂
