Baked Expectations

Baked Expectations in Winnipeg

The next time you find yourself in Winnipeg, check out Baked Expectations, a charming little bakery and restaurant in the Osborne Village neighborhood.

Inside Baked Expectations

Baked Expectations features many of my favorite things — late night hours, all-day breakfast, delicious french bread and astounding desserts — all in one cozy, slightly retro package.

We’d been shopping all day — my favorite shops in Winnipeg are just up Osborne Street — so we were starving when we arrived.

Derrick opted for a triple decker grilled cheese sandwich and I got an omelette. Both were excellent and the portion sizes were generous.

Then we had the impossible task of deciding between over 30 incredible looking desserts. Owner Beth Grubert has been serving up decadent treats since 1983 and she definitely knows how to tempt her customers.

The bakery cases almost made me delirious, so I just pointed to something chocolate.

It was fabulous.

Go there immediately.

I’ll drive.

What about you? What’s your favorite dessert spot? Have you been here? What do you recommend? What are your favorite Winnipeg treats? (From here or from anywhere else.)
