The idea of just wandering off to a cafe with a notebook and writing and seeing where that takes me for awhile is just bliss.

I was feeling a little stuck last week — it was an annoying combination of writer’s block, early spring fever and a crazy work week — when suddenly what had been a completely booked Saturday suddenly opened up. For the first time in weeks, I didn’t have anything planned.
So I did what I do best — I want wandering to see where the afternoon would take me. I do this a lot when I’m traveling, but I’m still working on working a little serendipity into my every day life.
It’s funny how when you relax a little, life gives you exactly what you need. I stumbled across a great new shop, which I’ll bring you in a post later this week –writer’s block solved! Even though it was cold, I still enjoyed the sunshine and it made me feel a little less restless.
I ended up at Nichole’s Fine Pastry, which is pretty much my personal relaxation mecca. I kicked back with the High Plains Reader and discovered my new favorite thing on the planet — a chocolate croissant.
It was perfect. And when I emerged an hour later, I felt like an entirely new person.
